Defining Abundance In Today's Economy

Many people I meet with have the mindset of lack. This is known as poverty consciousness. Focusing on lack simply causes one to live as though there is never of enough of something - money, material things, relationships, good will, etc. However, focusing on abundance is known as prosperity consciousness. And of course, whatever we focus on we attract, right? So how do we define abundance in today's economy?

If you have money in the bank, food in the pantry, and clothes in your closet, your life is more abundant than most people's in our world. Simply living in a country with freedom to choose where to live, work, and go to church opens your life to more abundance than you can imagine.

Now comes the real challenge. Are you living scared as you work at a job you dislike because you have convinced yourself that it provides you with some sort of security? In today's economy, there is no security working for a corporation whose sole concern is its own bottom line, not yours. True security comes from believing in yourself and your ability to generate sufficient wealth to afford you and your family the lifestyle you want and deserve.

So take a look around. Would you like to improve your situation? If the answer is yes, I stand ready to assist you in exploring possibilities. My goal is to assist as many people as possible to reach their true potential and experience the life of abundance that is available to us all.

To your abundance.

Receiving Abundance

All of us recognize the abundance in our world. So what keeps so many people from actually receiving abundance? After all, it's one thing to acknowledge the abundance in nature. People seem able to accept that creation is all about increase and growth. But it's quite another thing to feel deserving of abundance in the financial realm.

For some reason, many people have bought into the idea that wealth is somehow equated with greed. When you look at great people in the Bible, many of them were quite wealthy. Think of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon. This did not make them unspiritual in any way. God created us to grow and increase and loves to bless His creation.

So why have people, maybe even you, bought into the idea that wealth is only for a few. If you really believe in abundance, isn't it obvious that there is enough wealth for everyone? I challenge you to change from poverty consciousness, believing that you are not deserving of more than the bare necessities and that wealth is for the privileged few. Focus on prosperity consciousness, which says that there is not a limited amount of pie to be shared. Rather, there are infinite numbers of pies yet to be made.

Recognize that we live and grow by increasing, just like all of creation. The next step is to truly believe that you deserve wealth in your life. If you have always been a wage earner, this is going to require a huge change in your mindset. Download and read The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. It's a free download. As you learn to do things in the certain way, open yourself to receiving the abundance that is available to you.

Abundance and Prosperity Consciousness

Have you ever caught yourself saying something like, "That's just how I am"? Or "I'm a pessimist by nature." We all remember seeing the picture of two 8 ounce glasses with 4 ounces of water in each glass. We were told to describe the glasses and we found ourselves either responding with "half full" or "half empty." If you chose half full, you lean toward abundance and prosperity consciousness. If you chose half empty, you lean more toward lack and poverty consciousness.

Depending on a lot of factors, most people lean toward being more positive or more negative. In spite of your inclinations, remember that the world really is a level playing field. Even though some people may start out with an apparent advantage such as being from an affluent family, we are all capable of achieving any goal we set our hearts and minds on.

Just this morning I was doing some personal development meditation and journaling. My assignment was to choose 3 beliefs to impress onto my subconscious mind everyday until they become second nature to me. All of us can improve our self-image and become more capable and positive in our approach to life.

The three beliefs I am impressing upon my subconscious are:

1. My world overflows with neverending abundance.
2. I have talents that deserve to be richly rewarded.
3. Everywhere I look, new opportunities present themselves.

Feel free to use these statements to change your outlook. In the process you will become more prosperity and abundance conscious. In fact, your attraction to this blog could very well be a step in the right direction.
